YIV, Ukraine (AP) — The speaker of the lower house of Russia's parliament warned Sunday that countries supplying Ukraine with more powerful weapons risked their own destruction, a message that followed new pledges of armored vehicles, air defense systems and other equipment but not the battle tanks Kyiv requested.

In Washington, two leading lawmakers urged the U.S. on Sunday to send some of its Abrams tanks to Ukraine in the interests of overcoming Germany’s reluctance to share its own, more suitable tanks.

"The TV channel’s accounts have been frozen at the request of the Directorate General of the Treasury (AFT) under the French Ministry for the Economy and Finance," Fedorova wrote. "Our channel can no longer operate."

According to the press release posted on the TV channel’s website, such measures made the TV channel’s operation impossible. "After five years of relentless work, the ruling authorities have reached their goal of shutting down RT France," the statement said.

Le Monde reported on Thursday that RT France’s bank accounts had been blocked. Later, the Russian Foreign Ministry told TASS that such steps would prompt tit-for-tat measures against French media outlets in Russia.

A Utah doctor has been accused of doling out nearly 2,000 fake COVID vaccination cards and dumping actual mRNA shots, thereby defrauding the U.S. government.

Bd. of St. Johns Cty, revolved around whether or not St. Johns County School Board in Florida violated a transgender student's rights by prohibiting the student, a biological female who identifies as a boy, from using the boys' bathroom at Allen D. Nease High School. The court ruled en banc that the United States has a long tradition of segregating certain spaces, such as bathrooms, on the basis of sex, without falling afoul of either the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment or Title IX, which prohibits sex-based discrimination in education. As such, the student's rights weren't violated.

An international group of law enforcement agencies seized a Hong Kong-registered cryptocurrency website and arrested its founder for allegedly operating a haven for criminals to launder funds.

New bill would ban certain foreign entities from purchasing land in Texas

A bill has been filed in the Texas legislature that would ban citizens, governments and entities of China, Iran, North Korea and Russia from purchasing land in Texas.

Republican state Sen. Lois Kolkhorst filed SB 147 to ban certain foreign governments and entities associated with them from purchasing real property in Texas.

It follows an executive order issued by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis last year but includes fewer countries and far less prohibitions.

The bill would prohibit certain foreign individuals or entities from purchasing or otherwise acquiring title to real property in Texas. They include a governmental entity of China, Iran, North Korea or Russia; a company or other entity that is headquartered in these countries or is directly or indirectly held or controlled by the governments of these countries; owned by or the majority of stock or other ownership interest of which is held or controlled by individuals who are citizens of these countries; or a citizen of these countries, among other stipulations, according to the bill language.

Children's hospital gender program navigator touts giving uteruses from 'live donors' to trans women

A Pittsburgh children's hospital () is under fire after its gender program navigator advocated for helping transgender women get pregnant by giving reproductive organs to them from live donors.

In a presentation on "Fertility in the LGBTQIA+ community" last May that went viral this week, the community navigator for a youth gender program at the University of Pittsburgh Children's Hospital discussed the criteria the medical community uses for gender transition in adolescents, as well as a 2018 study on uterine transplants for transgender patients.

"One area that had not been looked at before in any serious way was could the donors be live donors?" Alicyn Simpson, who works with the hospital's pediatric Gender and Sexual Development Program, asked. "Live donation has been something the [transgender] community has talked about for decades, it was really thought about as magical thinking."

The sentence for Karen Carter Peterson was handed down by a judge on Wednesday.

Peterson, a former Louisiana Democratic Party chair and state senator, abruptly resigned in April and was charged a month later with wire fraud. She admitted at the time to a gambling addiction. She pled guilty to funneling $140,000 of campaign and party funds to individuals and companies who would cash the checks and give the funds to Peterson.

"I have made full repayment of funds used as a result of my addiction and I will continue to make amends," she added. "Staying true to the steps of my ongoing recovery, I have been forthright, honest, and fully cooperative with the US Attorneys’ Office in their investigation."
